Historical Inflation Adjuster
Convert historical INR values to their current equivalent purchasing power.
Result
₹...
₹ in has the same purchasing power as ₹ in .
Assumptions & Methodology
Calculations use a spliced CPI series linking CPI-IW (Industrial Workers) for earlier decades with the newer combined CPI. This provides the most realistic approximation of urban purchasing power erosion over the long term.
Common Mistakes
Comparing absolute GDP or budget allocations across decades without adjusting for inflation severely distorts the narrative. Always use real terms.
